Hunter safety course planned for next week

The Greene County conservation board will hold a hunter safety training course  Aug. 19, 21, and 23. The course is scheduled for 6:30 to 9 pm on Tuesday and Thursday at the Milwaukee Road depot on E. Lincoln Way in Jefferson.  The class on Saturday will be from 8 am to 4 pm  at Slininger Woods west of Jefferson. Participants should bring a sack lunch on Saturday.

Participants must attend all three classes  to receive a certificate of completion.

All persons born after January 1, 1972 are required to have a certificate of completion of a hunter safety course before purchasing an Iowa hunting license. Minimum age for the course is 12 and there is no cost.

The Iowa DNR now requires students to register for this class online. Go to www.iowadnr.gov/huntered and click on Greene County upcoming class. This site will show time and location and a “register here” link. Persons who need help with the online registration can contact Dan Towers at 515-386-5674.
